The history of the Corner House.

Est. 13th September 1969

A trail blazer, ahead of its time, The Corner House Restaurant opened its doors on the 13th September 1969 by Mr & Mrs Jessop.

Since then a lot has changed...

After Mr & Mrs Jessop, as we understand it, it was owned and managed by a Cypriot couple and apparently he had a bit of a temper. It was then owned / run by (to name a few) Judy/Judith Hallowell/Hellowell, Peter Taylor, and his grandson Matthew Taylor and partner Joanne.

Tim Renshaw bought the Corner House on the 13th September 1998, 29 years to the day after first opening, with the backing of his parents who, at that time, had Hubbards Tea Rooms in Victoria Square, Holmfirth.

They soon realised the potential of the Corner House and it has since gone from strength to strength.

Currently run by Tim, and his wife Toni, it is one of the most friendly, popular cafes in Holmfirth and continues be the favourite place for many families, cyclists, motor bikers and tourists.

Through further research it is also the oldest cafe in Holmfirth (by 4 years)!!!
